| East Nashville Welcomes New Music School and Much More! |
8 June 2007
(Nashville, TN)
On Saturday, June 2, 2007, the East Nashville School of Music hosted its grand opening, welcoming almost 200 friends and neighbors to its location in the new Riverside Village development in the Inglewood community of historic East Nashville. The all-day event featured free clinics and live music, door prizes and special discounts. Previews of new, neighboring businesses were also available.
East Nashville School of Music is owned and operated by Danny Ray and Nancy Denning Martin, residents of East Nashville who are excited about the ongoing revitalization of the community. “Opening a business in East Nashville is more than just realizing a dream for ourselves. It’s part of realizing the dreams of this community we’re a part of,” said Nancy Denning Martin. “No one in East Nashville does anything alone. We’re all committed to helping each other, to being good neighbors and to supporting unique, locally-owned businesses that enrich the entire community.”
The East Nashville School of Music is more than just a business for the Martins, particularly for Danny Ray, an accomplished teacher and performer, who is bringing his wealth of education, experience and talent to directing the school on a day-to-day basis. “The school is a place where people of all ages and skill levels can come to learn to play for fun or to study as a serious student of the art of music. Musicians will find the opportunity to perform and to network, honing their skills and sharing their talents in a community-centered, supportive atmosphere,” he said. Martin graduated from the Berklee College of Music before becoming an assistant professor of music at Bethel College in West Tennessee and leader of The Danny Ray Martin Quartet.
East Nashville School of Music offers private instruction on almost any instrument imaginable as well as Kindermusik, Tai Chi and Yoga.
East Nashville School of Music joins Castrillo’s Pizza, Inglewood Backs & Tracks (used books, LPs and CDs) and Sip (a coffee shop) in the newly-renovated Riverside Village. The deck and courtyard, featuring free Wi-Fi and soon-to-be-added chess tables, encourages neighbors to sit and enjoy live music, a good book or chatting with friends while having coffee or a slice of hot pizza.
ENSM is located in Riverside Village at the intersection of Riverside Drive and McGavock Pike in historic East Nashville.
